Beauty | Eyelash Extension Experience at N15 Salon Toronto

N15 reached out to me asking if I wanted to try lash extensions. I've previously had never gotten lash extensions but was curious since some of my other friends had gotten them and look gorgeous.  These lash extensions are attached to your actual lash and will grow out in around 4-5 weeks. Bottom lash extensions have a shorter life span of only around 2 weeks.
This is my third time back at N15, previously I went for a cut, and hair dye with Jun! Read about my experience here.

I was greeted by Ayumi who was super nice and asked me to fill out a form regarding allergies etc. The bed was in small, comfortable room at the back of the studio. Previously, Ayumi had spent years working in Japan doing lash extensions, and she arrived around September.  Japanese girls are known to love wearing false lashes (even on a daily basis!) but are now switching to getting lash extensions instead. It saves them much more time getting ready and you wake up looking beautiful ♥ !  Ayumi has had plenty of experiences working with all types of looks.

We went through a book to determine the:
1.Curl, 2. Thickness, 3. Length, and 4. Shape I wanted.
I had a few choices for templates like "glamorous," "sexy," "cute," natural" etc for shape. The look I wanted was more wispy and longer at the end of my eyes - which was "sexy."
I went with medium thickness and medium curl (C Curl)
Ayumi suggested that since I didn't want anything super dramatic that I go for 11mm on the inner area, and then 12mm in the centre with 13mm on the ends.
My natural lashes are quite long in the centre and reach 11mm, but are quite short on the inside and outside corners.
Tada!!!  The difference and impact is quite big. I got a total of 70 lashes extensions on each eye. Additionally, I asked for a few bottom lash extensions (5 on each)
It takes 40-45 minutes/eye, the appointment in total took an hour and a half. Ayumi and I chatted the entire time and had a lot of fun. I was surprised that it was 6 pm when I left and that it had taken 1.5 hours when she made it only feel like 45 minutes.
This is what it looked like the night I came back with very little eyeliner.
Ayumi suggests that when I get extensions I should:
  • General Guidelines:
    • Not touch/rub your eyes
    • Do not use mascara
    • Be careful when applying makeup near lash line
  • When removing makeup:
    • Do not use oil based makeup removers
    • Do not  rub your eyes to dry with towel
The lashes look super fluttery and make my eyes look a lot longer and bigger which is exactly what I wanted. I didn't know that lash extensions could make such a huge difference, it's almost as if they've "opened" my eyes! I feel much more comfortable wearing less eye makeup since, with more lashes it seems like I tight-lined my eyes. 70 lashes sound like a lot but it doesn't feel any heavier than before. Initially, I did notice my eyelashes a bit more than usual but after a day I just got used to it.
