Skin Care | LANEIGE Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask, Lip Sleep Mask, and Multi Cleanser Review

23:53 Jayyangg 1 Comments

About a month ago, LANEIGE reached out to me and asked if there were any products I wanted to try!  Of course, I gladly accepted the offer and picked out a few of their skincare items I wanted to test out :)
First of all, I received the Multi Yogurt Repairing Mask as a night cream! For my dry lips I received the LANEIGE Lip Sleep Mask, and also their Multi Cleanser to help me double cleanse. I've been using these products all for around a month and I'm especially excited to share this review with you because one of these products actually became an HG that's permanently in my daily rotation... keep reading to find out which one it is :D

** I was sent these products from LANEIGE but my opinions are all honest :)
Price: $29 CAD
Size: 6oz
Solutions for: - Dryness- Uneven skin tone
- Dullness and uneven texture
If you want to know more…This bestselling Multi Cleanser lathers richly for an invigorating, multiaction cleansing experience. Infused with skin-nourishing papaya, this cleanser sweeps away dead surface skin, while natural cellulose gently removes impurities and melts away sunscreen and makeup. Skin appears instantly brighter.
  • Ideally, with this cleanser, I was looking for a nice gentle face wash that helped take off makeup, wasn't drying, and also a great daily exfoliator. So for what I was looking for, this definitely fits the bill!
  • Texture: Feels like a very thick cream at first and then lathers to a nice foam. You can feel very, very small microbeads in it (papaya) that help very gently exfoliate your skin! It's gentle enough for everyday use.
  • Ingredients: Papayas are known to be a natural exfoliant that helps takes off the layer of dead skin that makes your skin look dull. Doing so helps reveal your more glowy skin underneath :) + in conjunction with the micro beads, this really helps leaving my skin feeling polished, cleansed and soft.
  • Review: Felt like it really lived up to the claims! I can't say that my skin appears instantly brighter, but the daily exfoliation is really nice! Additionally, it's really great at removing the remainder makeup after I use an oil cleanser.
PROS:
  • Large size - it's REALLY big haha
  • Exfoliates gently - great for everyday!
  • Removes makeup, sunscreen
  • Makes my skin feel "squeaky clean" without leaving it feeling stripped.
  • Leaves skin feeling soft
CONS:
  • A little steep in price
  • Lightly floral scented... I don't mind at all but some people may not like fragrance.

Nourish the skin with antioxidants and nutrition from yogurt and various berry extracts. Formulated with extracts from raspberries, blueberries, wolfberries, cranberries, and strawberries, Multiberry Complex delivers abundant nutrients and antioxidants deep into the skin to help nourish and eliminate harmful free radicals. Sogurty™, a specialized fermented yogurt, soothes, protects and supports natural collagen production for healthier, younger-looking skin.
  • Directions: The directions for this cream says to leave it on for 10 mins and rinse off. However, I've always just leave it on and had no problems, and actually prefer it this way - you get more hydration :)
  • Texture: A light whipped cream. Not thick and instantly absorbed leaving skin feeling plump.
  • Scent: Smells like Strawberry yogurt! Yum! :D
  • Ingredients: Love that there are so many berry extracts which are known to have high antioxidants that help with more youthful skin.
  • Claims: I really think this product lives up to its claims! It says that its filled with antioxidants delivers nutrients deep into the skin, and helps produce collagen for healthier, younger-looking skin. I can totally agree with all these.
  • Review: My skin since using this has just been glowing, moisturized and amazing! Every night I use this, it's almost as if I had done a sheet mask the night before - that's how hydrating the cream is. Many night creams I find it may be thick and moisturizing but only at the surface level... in reality, my skin still feels dry deep within. This cream is light and I feel as if it instantly penetrates deep into my skin making it look healthier, bouncier and younger! I had to use it a few times to realize that my "good skin days" were caused by this cream...I love it so much, it's officially my HG night cream and it's found a spot in my permanent nightly routine <3  You also don't need a lot...it's so light that you think you need to layer it on, but a light layer works great. Additionally, it absorbs very quickly.
PROS:
  • Strawberry smell! <3
  • A little goes a long way
  • Light texture
  • Absorbs quickly
  • Brightened, healthier, younger looking skin - leaves my skin bouncy!
  • Very moisturizing
  • Berries are a great source of antioxidants
  • Spatula provided to keep it sanitary
CONS:
  • Honestly, there are none LOL it lives up to the claims and I love it for fall/winter weather

Lip Sleeping Mask has a softening balm texture that closely adheres to lips for quick absorption. Enriched with vitamin C and antioxidants, its Berry Mix Complex™ offers a nutritiously sweet and fragrant blend of raspberry, strawberry, cranberry, and blueberry extracts to indulge the senses. Its exclusive Moisture Wrap™ technology boasts hyaluronic acid and minerals to form a protective film over the lips to lock in moisture and active ingredients. A generous layer of this soothing mask at bedtime helps reduce flakiness so you can wake up to lips that feel refreshed, supple, and soft to the touch.
  • Directions: Apply a thick layer onto lips for overnight treatment.
  • Texture: Creamy but also a little sticky - a bit similar to a lip gloss consistency. However, the consistency doesn't bother me :) Lip mask is slightly pink tinted but doesn't show up on lips.
  • Scent: Smells like cherries? It's very delicious smelling.
  • Ingredients: love that it's enriched with vitamin c and antioxidants!
  • Claims: Helps reduce flakiness so that you can have supple, soft lips in the morning.

  • Review: Personally I have mixed feelings about this product. This one is nice, and my lips are not chapped in the morning after using it. The product is raved by one of my favorite Youtube KBeauty Gurus - Liah Yoo, however, I'm not sure if it's just that I have really dry lips - but the hydration is only on the surface and doesn't go deep enough. This causes the outer layer to be hydrated, but once that rubs off my lips go back to being chapped.  I tend to have problematic lips as what most people think is fine, my lips will instantly peel - so I'm starting to think it may just be me problem :/ However, when my lips are not too dry, it definitely helps keep them moisturized and plump.
PROS:
  • Smells like delicious berry/cherries?
  • Pretty pink gel
  • Hydrates well
  • Spatula provided to keep it sanitary
CONS:
  • My personal lips don't feel fully hydrated and stay hydrated once the balm is gone.

Makeup | Revlon Mega Multiplier Mascara and Stipple Brush Review

11:55 Jayyangg 0 Comments

Revlon Mega-Multiplier Mascara
Price: ~$10 CAD
About: Our unique fibres are sealed in 360° tubes that plump and extend lashes for mega volume and extreme length
  • Flake-free smudge-proof wear
  • Removes easily with warm water
  • Mega Lash Brush™ deposits formula from lash line to tip for mega volume and extreme length
  • Available in 4 shades

  • Formula: The formula is very dry and thick. I often apply way too much even when I'm being very careful. Despite the thicker formula, my lashes appear very natural, almost like a "my lashes but better" look. It's hard to build it to get more volume - it's more length than anything but even then it's not "crazy." It doesn't hold a curl very well. Usually, I'll have to curl my lashes again after it dries. Because it is a fibre mascara, there isn't a lot of flakes or smudging. Additionally, it comes off quite easily with some warm water.
  • Brush: Very straight and not many plastic bristles to help separate your lashes. I have to go in and try to separate it, and really work the product. However, once I do it does give that "mega multiplier' look. My lashes are very fluffy looking.
  • Packaging: A lot nicer than it looks! Has a velvet bottle for a better grip.

Revlon Stipple Brush
Price ~$28 CAD

For those who follow me on Instagram - you already know how I feel about this brush. I'm not sure if I received a dud or something, but this shed like crazy! Every time I used anything like foundation or powder, I'd find at least 5 or 6 large hairs stuck to my face. Even just stroking the brush I had a lot of fallouts. Zoe, my friend who also got this at the Revlon event didn't experience any shedding so I'm very confused.
Regardless of if it sheds or not, I don't think it's worth the $28 tag - it's not very dense or soft. You could probably get better quality with an ELF stipple or spend the same amount on a Sigma brush.

Repurchase? Definitely not, it's already in my garbage.

Skin Care | BeMused Korea Earth's Recipe Brightening Whitening & 107 Snow Mask Korean Skincare Review

17:37 Jayyangg 0 Comments

One of my blogger friends in South Korea, Lisa, started her own Korean Skin Care website that ships to North America! Recently, Rose Rose (where I usually shopped) has stopped shipping to Canada because of postal reasons T_T I was low on serums and certain products so I'm so relieved that I have a great new place to shop skincare!
Bemused Korea has a lot of new brands I haven't heard of such as the ones she sent me! Lisa first asked me what my main concern was, which was brightening and whitening! So as you will soon see, she catered all these products to my need <3

These products were sent to me from her website, but of course - all my opinions are my own and are honest.
Price; $38 USD
45ml
The Gigawhite Radiance Serum features Gigawhite, a brightening complex of Alpine plants, including edelweiss, lemon balm, primrose, and other botanicals. This illuminating serum also contains proven brightening agents like niacinamide, licorice root extract, and tranexamic acid to diminish the appearance of dark spots on the skin and promote greater skin radiance.
Ingredients:WATER, METHYLPROPANEDIOL, NIACINAMIDE, BETAINE, PROPANEDIOL, PHELLINUS LINTEUS EXTRACT, ARCTIUM LAPPA ROOT EXTRACT, DIOSCOREA JAPONICA ROOT EXTRACT, BRASSICA OLERACEA ITALICA (BROCCOLI) SPROUT EXTRACT, BRASSICA CAMPESTRIS (RAPESEED) SPROUT EXTRACT, BRASSICA OLERACEA ACEPHALA LEAF EXTRACT, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SPROUT EXTRACT, PIPER METHYSTICUM LEAF/ROOT/STEM EXTRACT, PORTULACA OLERACEA EXTRACT, PUERARIA THUNBERGIANA ROOT EXTRACT, GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA (LICORICE) ROOT EXTRACT, PAEONIA LACTIFLORA ROOT EXTRACT, CNIDIUM OFFICINALE ROOT EXTRACT, VERONICA OFFICINALIS FLOWER/LEAF/STEM EXTRACT, MELISSA OFFICINALIS LEAF EXTRACT, MALVA SYLVESTRIS (MALLOW) EXTRACT, ACHILLEA MILLEFOLIUM EXTRACT, ALCHEMILLA VULGARIS EXTRACT, PRIMULA VERIS EXTRACT, MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) LEAF EXTRACT, SOLUBLE COLLAGEN, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, CITRUS AURANTIUM BERGAMIA (BERGAMOT) FRUIT OIL, PELARGONIUM GRAVEOLENS FLOWER OIL, SALVIA OFFICINALIS (SAGE) OIL, POGOSTEMON CABLIN OIL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, BIFIDA FERMENT LYSATE, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER, TRANEXAMIC ACID, PEG/PPG-17/6 COPOLYMER, PEG/PPG/POLYBUTYLENE GLYCOL-8/5/3 GLYCERIN, TROMETHAMINE, PEG-40 HYDROGENATED CASTOR OIL, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, TRISODIUM EDTA, ADENOSINE, POLYQUATERNIUM-51, GLYCOSYL TREHALOSE, HYDROGENATED STARCH HYDROLYSATE, RAFFINOSE, BIOSACCHARIDE GUM-1, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, PANTHENOL, XANTHAN GUM, LECITHIN, FOLIC ACID, GLYCERIN, CERAMIDE NP, CHOLESTEROL, ACETIC ACID, LACTIC ACID, PALMITOYL PENTAPEPTIDE-4, PHENOXYETHANOL, POTASSIUM SORBATE
  • Consistency: It's super gel-like and very very light on the skin! Prior to using this serum, I didn't like using a serum in the day because it made me feel like I had too many layers on and my makeup was going to slip off. However, Since I started using this Gigawhite Radiance Serum, I've started to also use serums during the day!
  • Ingredient: There are so many amazing plant-based ingredients very close and higher up vs just being lost near the bottom. JAPONICA ROOT EXTRACT and (BROCCOLI) SPROUT EXTRACT are a few call outs.
  • Claims: However, I do find that many times with this many ingredients, results are not overnight since there tends to be a bit of everything. I can't say that I saw radical results in brightening in my skin - but I can say that my skin does like this and I have been reaching for it and still do use it on a daily morning basis!
  • Scent: There's a little bit of a herbal aromatherapy smell? But it's very faint and disappears rather quickly.
PROS:
  • Light-easily absorbed
  • Smell
  • Moisturizing
  • Large amount of product
  • Kinda brightened over-all complexion
CONS:
  • Didn't really brighten any hyperpigmentation

The Moisture Brightening Cream helps to diminish the appearance of dark spots and even out skin tone, while providing hydration for radiant, clear skin. Containing Earth’s Recipe’s signature Gigawhite complex, a combination of Alpine plant extracts, this cream brightens and hydrates without irritating the skin. It provides an illuminating finish for glowing skin.
Ingredients:
WATER, GLYCERIN, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, NIACINAMIDE, DICAPRYLYL CARBONATE, LIMNANTHES ALBA (MEADOWFOAM) SEED OIL, PENTYLENE GLYCOL, BIFIDA FERMENT LYSATE, POLYSORBATE 20, METHYLPROPANEDIOL, SODIUM POLYACRYLATE, PIPER METHYSTICUM LEAF/ROOT/STEM EXTRACT, DIOSCOREA JAPONICA ROOT EXTRACT, PHELLINUS LINTEUS EXTRACT, ARCTIUM LAPPA ROOT EXTRACT, PORTULACA OLERACEA EXTRACT, PUERARIA THUNBERGIANA ROOT EXTRACT, GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA (LICORICE) ROOT EXTRACT, PAEONIA LACTIFLORA ROOT EXTRACT, CNIDIUM OFFICINALE ROOT EXTRACT, BRASSICA OLERACEA ITALICA (BROCCOLI) SPROUT EXTRACT, BRASSICA CAMPESTRIS (RAPESEED) SPROUT EXTRACT, BRASSICA OLERACEA ACEPHALA LEAF EXTRACT, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SPROUT EXTRACT, OLEA EUROPAEA (OLIVE) LEAF EXTRACT, VERONICA OFFICINALIS FLOWER/LEAF/STEM EXTRACT, MELISSA OFFICINALIS LEAF EXTRACT, MALVA SYLVESTRIS (MALLOW) EXTRACT, ACHILLEA MILLEFOLIUM EXTRACT, ALCHEMILLA VULGARIS EXTRACT, PRIMULA VERIS EXTRACT, MENTHA PIPERITA (PEPPERMINT) LEAF EXTRACT, SOLUBLE COLLAGEN, HYDROGENATED LECITHIN, ALOE BARBADENSIS LEAF JUICE, CITRUS AURANTIUM BERGAMIA (BERGAMOT) FRUIT OIL, PELARGONIUM GRAVEOLENS FLOWER OIL, SODIUM HYALURONATE, SALVIA OFFICINALIS (SAGE) OIL, POGOSTEMON CABLIN OIL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, TRANEXAMIC ACID, HYDROXYETHYL ACRYLATE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYL TAURATE COPOLYMER, SQUALANE, BISABOLOL, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, XANTHAN GUM, ADENOSINE, DISODIUM EDTA, POLYSORBATE 60, POLYQUATERNIUM-51, GLYCOSYL TREHALOSE, NEOPENTYL GLYCOL DIHEPTANOATE, ASCORBYL GLUCOSIDE, ZINC PCA, TOCOPHERYL LINOLEATE, HYDROGENATED STARCH HYDROLYSATE, RAFFINOSE, BIOSACCHARIDE GUM-1, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, SUCROSE DISTEARATE, PANTHENOL, CERAMIDE NP, LECITHIN, FOLIC ACID, ACETIC ACID, CHOLESTEROL, LACTIC ACID, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, PALMITOYL TRIPEPTIDE-5, TROMETHAMINE, ACETYL HEXAPEPTIDE-8, PALMITOYL PENTAPEPTIDE-4, POTASSIUM SORBATE
  • Consistency: Similarly like the serum, the consistency is almost like a gel! I find with gels though, they tend to be light but not moisturizing enough. However, this formula is light AND moisturizing + easily absorbed into my skin. I usually use very thick creams and oils at night but I found a nice spot for this cream for my morning daily use.
  • Smell: Like the serum, a light herbal, aromatherapeutic smell! Disappears once you rub the cream in.
  • Ingredients: Similar to the serum, but not as many active ingredients? I didn't find it lightened any serious hyperpigmentation - but hydration does brighten ones' skin! This is an amazing moisturizer for those hot days (Toronto suddenly reached 39 degrees the other day?!) where you want moisture...without the grease ^^"
PROS:
  • Light - Easily absorbed
  • Smell
  • Moisturizing
  • Slightly brightening
CONS:
  • Didn't really get rid of any hyperpigmentation

Price: $2.5 USD per sheet Mask
The Snow Mask Pack is pH balanced to match the skin’s natural, slightly-acidic pH, supporting the skin’s moisture barrier. Featuring naturally skin-supporting extracts like snail mucin extract and propolis, this mask brightens and smooths the skin for a naturally glowing complexion. Hydrating without feeling sticky, the Snow Mask soothes skin that may be flushed or irritated.
Ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Naiacinamide, Butylene Glycol, PEG/PPG-17/6 Copolymer, Panthenol, Snail Secreation Filtrate, Propolis Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Pearl Extract, Beta-Glucan, Thuja Orientalis Extract, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Hydroxyethylcellulose, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Caster Oil, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Illicium Verum (Anise) Fruit Extract, Propanediol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Tromethamine, Chlorphenesin, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance
  • One feature I love was the size of these face masks! They're one size smaller than the regular ones that are always way too big... these ones fit perfectly!
  • The cotton is pretty thick and very saturated
  • Left it on for 20 minutes before it started to get dry-my skin super plump and moisturized!
  • The serum that the mask is soaked in was sticky as usual but had a bit more of a "gel" texture to it - probably from the Snail mucin extract.
    • Although it claimed to be "hydrating without feeling sticky," it still did initially feel heavy and just as sticky as others - but it sunk into my skin without leaving a weird gooey film on my face. This allowed me to apply my skincare as I usually would!
  • Ingredients: Snail mucin extract and propolis are really amazing for healing the skin. I imagine I would ideally use this after spending a long day under the sun or if my skin is healing from acne!
Pros:
  • Size was perfect
  • Very saturated
  • Sticky - but absorbed better than other masks
  • Hydrating
  • Plumping
Cons:
  • Not really brightening? - still made my skin glowy/plump
Repurchase? yes
Rating: 8.4/10
(You can see the size ends perfectly at the edge of my face!)
(skin looks very glowy/hydrated after!)

Makeup | COVERGIRL Vitalist Elixir Shade 610 & Melting Pout 105 Gel-Ful Review

17:03 Jayyangg 0 Comments

COVERGIRL Vitalist Elixir Shade 610 Classic Ivory
Price: ~$12 CAD
Finally a hydrating, vitamin-infused formula for beautiful, buildable coverage that glides on smoothly for a flawless look. A special antioxidant and vitamin complex plus SPF 20 work together to make your skin look healthy all day. Give your skin a luminous glow. Available in multiple shades from light to deep.
  • Packaging: Love the pump! Very easy to dispense product, but the clear cap makes everything look very dirty haha
  • Finish: Semi-matte
  • Formula: Felt a little thick and was a little streaky. For those who have combo-oily skin, this will not last long on you. Many foundations are okay after I blot when I get a little shiny but this completely transferred off onto the blotting sheet or wherever I accidentally rubbed lol. It did feel slightly hydrating.
  • Others said it broke them out but it didn't for me
  • Longevity: My skin isn't very oily but it broke up around my nose after 3-4 hours.
  • Perhaps just not the right formula for me. Most foundations that feel heavier tend to last long. However this one did not- probably due to the fact it isn't meant to control oil.
  • Recommend: Normal to dry skin.
PROS:
  • Medium buildable coverage
  • Semi-matte finish
  • SPF 20
  • Antioxidant and vitamin complex
  • Good Shade Range
  • Pump
  • Good shade match for NC20-25
  • Slightly Hydrating
CONS:
  • Not good for combo-oily skin
  • Wasn't the easiest to blend out
  • Not very long lasting for combo skin (I'm not even very oily...) - oily skin girls may want to avoid.
Repurchase? No

Rating: 7/10

(Left side is swatch of foundation; Right side is liquid lipstick)
Melting Pout 105 Gel-Ful
Price: ~$8 CAD
If you want color so hot, it's melted, this is the lipstick for you! New Melting Pout Liquid Lipsticks give you a high-impact, super rich color with a lightweight, satin finish. Melting Pout lipsticks give you Intensely rich color in a gel-based formula for a smooth finish
  • Packaging: Squeezey tube with a rounded sponge at the tip
  • Finish: Semi Matte - Light/medium pink with a hint of peach
  • Formula:  Interesting and odd product. It does indeed feel as if you had melted a lipstick and put it in a tube. However, for these semi-matte, mousse-y/velvety products, I'm more used to it "setting," but it doesn't really. It is indeed light weight, but this particular color is a bit light on my lips and appears patchy. Additionally, not very long lasting as it transfers easily because it never really "sets."  It wasn't as drying as other liquid lipsticks, but did make my lips peel at the end of the day. Formula wise, very similar to the Armani Lip Maestros.
PROS:
  • Light
  • Slightly moisturizing/not as dry as other liquid lipsticks
  • Pretty universal shade
  • The formula feels like a possible dupe for Armani Lip Maestros for a fraction of the price.
CONS:
  • This particular shade was patchy
  • Not long wearing
  • Transfers easily

Makeup | BECCA Holiday Après Ski Glow Collection: Eye Lights Palette Review

13:22 Jayyangg 0 Comments

Price: $54 CAD

What it is: A palette features seven shades and two luxe finishes: satin-matte and high-shine.
What it does: Put your eyes in the spotlight with this limited-edition eyeshadow palette featuring the bestselling Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter formula customized specifically for the eyes. These exclusive pairings allow you to dial up or down the lights to create a customized light effect for all skin tones and eye colors.
This set contains:- 0.05 oz/ 1.4 g Eyeshadows in Pearl, Rose Quartz, Moonstone, Opal, Topaz, Toasted Marshmallow, and Hot Cocoa
Starting from Darkest Shade Counter Clockwise: Hot Cocoa, Toasted Marshmellow, Topaz, Moonstone, Opal, Rose Quartz, Pearl (in the middle)

(Indoor lighting)
R-L : Pearl, Rose Quartz, Opal, Moonstone, Topaz, Toasted Marshmallow, Hot Cocoa
(Directly sun lighting)
R-L : Pearl, Rose Quartz, Opal, Moonstone, Topaz, Toasted Marshmallow, Hot Cocoa

  • Formula: Eyeshadows are creamy but very powdery in general. The Light shades are particularly more powdery and therefore were hard to build. Definitely need a primer underneath when using this product. Perhaps best for a more light, natural look.
    • Rating: 7/10
  • Palette: Colors at a glance are very beautiful. However, once you start playing with it, you notice that you don't have a lot of choices when it comes to medium/darker shades. Therefore, I found it very hard to come up with versatile looks and always went back to the 1 or 2 looks I could come up with. This is mainly due to the fact that out of the 7 shades, you have 4 that are shades of white/ivory with either a more neutral, yellow, or pink undertone. The darker shades, especially Hot Cocoa and Toasted Marshmellow, looked really flattering on the eyes. Additionally, there are only 2 finishes: satin-matte and high-shine which again, on the lids didn't make a big enough difference for the palette to be versatile.
    • Rating: 7/10
  • Generally, a little disappointed with this palette as the formula for BECCA's highlighters are so good. I just wished that translated to the eyeshadows as well.
PROS:
  • Beautiful medium-dark colours
  • Packaging is beautiful
CONS:
  • Packaging leaves a lot of fingerprints
  • Only 2 finishes that are both sparkly/shiny (Satin-Matte, High-Shine)
  • Powdery
  • Not very buildable
  • Not versatile
  • Too many light shades that look almost the same - not enough darker shades
  • Price

Makeup | Early Fall Copper Orange Makeup Tutorial

21:25 Jayyangg 0 Comments

Hey, guys!

It's that awkward season where you want to start wearing your sweaters but you just can't yet! This video I'm going to show you my go to "pre-fall" makeup that's centered around warmer copper, orange eyes + orange lips. Here I give you 2 options: lip tint balm for a more natural look or an opaque lip color for an evening look. As mentioned in the video, later  around October I'll be uploading a vampy, darker berry lip tutorial so keep an eye out for that!
Listed below are the products I used :)

Key Tip: Figure out what your main focus of the look is and base everything else around its undertone. Here it's the orange lipstick with a yellow undertone. Therefore, I make sure that my eyeshadow also has a yellowy base (BR403 from Etude house is a sandy beige!) This help make everything look cohesive :D

I would love to hear your feed back through comments down below or on the video!

Sun Care | COOLA Makeup Setting Spray & Body Sunscreen Spray SPF 30 Review

13:18 Jayyangg 0 Comments

Hi Guys!

COOLA's a really amazing brand that recently launched in Canada! What's really interesting is that their formulas are known to be 70% organic which is an amazing feature to boast. Their products are developed using as many ingredients as possible that are natural, organic, sustainable and locally sourced. Additionally,  each of their products protects and nourish the skin with vitamins and age-defying antioxidants like strawberry, lemon oil, aloe, algae, orange fruit extract etc. It's kind of like sun care + skin care in one!

A lesson I took away from interning at the company Well.ca over the summer is that it's important to consume healthy products, but also just as important to use healthy products on the skin as well - after all, the skin is our largest organ!

---> Although the summer is over, it doesn't mean you stop applying sunscreen. If you haven't already read about UVA/UVB rays and what type of damage the sun can do, Read it here and here

Use the code: " JAY20 " for 20% off  Coolasuncare.ca from September 11th, 2017 - September 18th, 2017.

**I'm super thankful for COOLA for sending me these products to review! I do not get compensated for reviewing or if you use the discount link. All my thoughts are my own and honest opinions about the product.

They recommend that you apply it to your hand and then apply it to your face - however, that doesn't make sense since its a "setting spray?" A second look on their website revealed a contradictory comment where they say to just spray on face with eyes closed....So I would suggest to just do what you're comfortable with.

  • The mist is really nice - doesn't give you water droplets on your face. However, there's a lot of alcohol in the product (No.1 on the ingredients list, however, it's...organic? I didn't know alcohol could be organic lol) which you can smell when you spray it. But that allows the product to evaporate very quickly once sprayed and not leave much of a residue. I recommend closing your eyes and tucking your lips in. The alcohol slightly burns my lips if I don't tuck them away and would definitely sting my eyes (this is probably why they said not to directly spray onto face).
  • It smells a bit weird, not a fan of the "green tea" scent.
  • It has a gel like texture and doesn't disturb my makeup. Once it evaporates it feels very nice on the face! It leaves a slight hydration feeling and a matte finish which is really nice for touch-ups!
  • It's a great touch up product throughout the day but doesn't seem to really prolong the wear of my makeup.
Overall really enjoyed the product aside from the "green tea" scent and alcohol. If you get past those 2 things, I would highly recommend this product! A really great option if you're looking for a way to reapply SPF over your makeup and not having the sunscreen sheen. The size is also super portable and easy to take out if you find yourself out in the sun for a few hours. My only wish is that this was SPF 50 and it prolonged my makeup like a setting spray does.

PROS:

  • Really doesn't disturb your makeup underneath - great way to touch up on SPF
  • Moisturizing
  • Matte finish
  • SPF 30 UVA/UVB
  • Skincare like ingredients (Algae, Cucumber Fruit Extract, Orange fruit water etc)
CONS:
  • Green Tea smell (personal)
  • Alcohol content
  • Price ($51 CAD)

  • When you spray, it leaves a clear sheen onto the body and then gets absorbed pretty quickly. It starts off looking wet but then feels like there's something on my skin but not the usual sunscreen oiliness. It's not super tacky and greasy like normal sunscreen, instead, it leaves my skin feeling a quite moisturized. This feeling goes away progressively until the product is fully absorbed and it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything at all
  • There's definitely a very distinct alcohol smell,  that is masked with the citrus smell. However, it quickly evaporates and smells like nothing.
Overall, I surprisingly really enjoyed this body one. It definitely has an interesting finish that is super tolerable compared to other invisible dry finish sunscreens like the Vichy and La Roch Posay sprays. I will for sure use this going out as my boyfriend has much less tolerable to sunscreens... this maybe one of the few ones he's going to be willing to use 8D (you know its good when guys are gonna be okay with it lol ).

PROS:
  • Moisturizing
  • Absorbed into nothingness!
  • SPF 30 UVA/UVB
  • 70% organic ingredients
  • Skincare like ingredients (Algae, Aloe, Citrus Limon Peel Oil, Cucumber Fruit Extract, Strawberry Fruit Extract etc)
CONS:
  • Alcohol

I'm super excited to have been sent the It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream! I remember first seeing this product adored by Emily Noel on youtube as Beauty Broadcast. Unable to get this product for years, I was super excited to hear that they were going to launch in August 2017 in Canada :D Finally, I'm going to get to review this much raved about CC cream :) I'm also very lucky that they gave me a 10% off discount code you can use on their Canadian website till Oct 31st 2017, so definitely take advantage of that! Claims:
"Developed with plastic surgeons, CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ is your anti-aginghydrating formula infused with high-performance brighteningcolor-correcting and nourishing ingredients"

Delivers 7 Products, All in One:
  1. Full Coverage Foundation
    1. Medium buildable
  2. SPF 50 UVA/UVB Physical Sunscreen
    1. Yes
  3. Brightening Colour Correcting
    1. Brightening is hard to tell since my shade is way too light LOL Colour Correcting is also difficult as I don't have any red patches to correct.
  4. Hydrating Anti-Aging Serum
    1. Yes very hydrating and full of anti aging products like snail secretion
  5. Poreless Finish Primer
    1. Definitely will not make them disappear, but does make them seem not as obvious.
  6. Dark Spot Concealer
    1. Medium buildable coverage - would not use this as concealer for major blemishes, but if you have slight hyper pigmentation this should be enough.
  7. Moisturizing Day Cream
    1. Would not use this to replace my moisturizer, but I guess if your skin isn't too dry you could potentially skip moisturizer.
It Cosmetics was developed with plastic surgeons, very similar background to how the BB Cream came to be. Additionally, with a little search I found that this CC cream is actually made in Korea! This would explain the ingredient list and ingredients. The second ingredient is Snail Secretion, which is commonly used in Korean skincare and known for its anti-aging and skin rejuvenation properties. I find that it has a very similar consistency like the Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream, however that one has a bit better against oily skin + not as high coverage.
Love the packaging: Yay for Pumps! Also, super travel-friendly

Swatch of the shade It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in Fair against NC30 (my hand looks so tan LOL)

Overall Thoughts:

  • Price: $49 CAD
  • Durability: It doesn't have the longest wear time - I would personally reach for this product only when I know that I'd be out for 4-5 hours max.
  • Skin Type: Highly recommend this product for those who have dry to combination oily skin (slightly oily). Those who have oily skin, best to skip out on this product because it doesn't have a whole lot of oil controlling properties. I personally will be using this more in the fall to winter vs summer.
  • Coverage: Medium to full, depends on how you layer it. You could use this as a concealer if you don't have any severe blemishes. Personally, I found the texture slick and hard to build with a buffing brush. If you want to build coverage, best to use a beauty blender.
  • Finish: Natural, glowy but not satin. Has a almost gel like texture (probably from snail mucus) and very moisturizing.
  • Smell: It has a light fragrance, almost like lavender but it disappears almost as soon as you apply it to your face.
  • Finally, having the broad-spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 50+ is a great bonus for those who are on the go and want a product that does it all - covers, protects and conceals!

Tips for picking your shade:
  • Fair: NC15-20
  • Light: NC20-25
  • Medium: Nc 30-35
PROS:
  • Wide color range
  • Skin care infused
  • Comes with a pump
  • Easy to Travel with
  • Moisturizing
  • Sunscreen SPF 50 + UVA/UVB
  • Doesn't strip my skin
  • Medium buildable coverage
CONS:
  • Not very good oil control
  • Claims to be concealer as well - wouldn't use as one unless I have minor blemishes
  • Price: $49 CAD - pretty pricy for a CC Cream. For that price you can find similar products (ex: Missha  M Perfect Cover BB Cream, much cheaper but not as many skincare benefits, colors, but better oil control)
